Citychanging and Worldchanging

Design is less about learning particular skills, and more about learning a framework for human problem solving through products. In order to help you all out in your quest to further that framework, we thought you might get a kick out of a few sites that explore change as their central theme.
Earth

First off, saunter over to NewYorkChanging.com for a look at a side-by-side comparison of The City of the 30's and The City today. We've always had a fantasy of setting up a super long term time lapse camera in an urban center to see the way that time effects the way a city grows and changes. Unfortunately, we don't have a thousand years to wait, but NewYorkchanging is the next best thing. Somehow, the authors were able to get a ton of identically shot then and now images of landmark areas of New York. It's pretty neat to see the little things that have changed, like elevated trains and for traffic. And how things can stay the same for 70 years

Since change is such an important concept to get your head around, why not head over to Playwithtime to see some time lapse photography of subjects ranging from water balloons to forests.

Finally, while we're on the subject of change, if it isn't already a daily read, you should totally make Worldchanging your homepage. Take a look at it every once in a while to get yourself stirred out of the same old ideas. We totally recommend Eco-Ganesha and Understanding the Indian Tech Boom for starters.

Have fun guys, and remember: Change isn't good or bad, but it's happening. The good or bad comes out of how we react to it and work with it.
